Shopping in Amsterdam – Shop ‘til drop in the streets of Amsterdam

Milan,

Paris and New York are known for being the capitals of fashion but when it

comes to shopping Amsterdam does not fall behind. Dutch design is worldwide

famous and for a reason. Amsterdam offers great shopping for all budgets and

styles. Designer brands, high street fashion and unique boutiques, charming

book stores and lively cafes in which you can sit and relax after a long day walking

down the streets of A’Dam and its endless shopping streets. It is not for

nothing that one of the shopping areas of downtown Amsterdam is called the 9

Streets. Yes, 9 streets of shops almost exclusively. But there is more, much

more!

The

beautiful Museum District is home to

the best shops in town with renowned boutiques

such as Louis Vuitton, Jimmy Choo, Gucci and Hermes. Kalverstraat, on the other

hand, is the best place if you are looking for international and national high

street brands, where you will find Steve Madden, Zara, Mango, Mexx and Benetton

stores among others. If you’d rather find some bohemian pieces or some hip

clothing, De Pijp is the quarter you are searching for but if you are looking

for unique pieces of art, head to the Jordaan district, where Dutch and

international artists of all styles display their works. Our apartments,

located in the best parts of Amsterdam are within easy reach of all major

shopping areas, which will definitely make your ‘shop ‘til drop’ experience

much more pleasant. Here are some insider tips of where and what to shop in

Amsterdam. From shopaholic to shopaholic.

Luxurious and chic:

welcome to the Museum District

P.C.

known as the best shopping street in The Netherlands which compares to the

mythic shopping streets of Rue Saint Honoré in Paris and 5th Avenue

in New York, with a wide selection of the most exclusive boutiques in the

world.

Azzurro is a local´s favourite

and it has four different shops on the same street.

Azzurro (located on number

142) offers brands like Christian Louboutin, Tom Ford, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana

and Cavalli, whereas

Amsterdamers

are delighted with one of the newest shops in

Do you need a break after

your shopping day? Caffepc is

an

A level cafe where you can have a

gorgeous breakfast or sumptuous lunch, or simply enjoy a delicious capuccino. Caffepc

is a favourite among locals, too: Dutch TV stars and

la crème de la crème of Amsterdam love gathering here. This café

was designed by interior designer Eric Kluster. Even Demi More, who was there

once, fell in love with this place!

High street: high value, low prices.

We ˂3 Kalverstraat

Kalverstraat, located next to one of the emblems of the city, Dam Square,

is a lively street where you can buy the best fashion at the best prices. From

the colourful designs of Spanish brand

Desigual to the incredible shoe

designs of the Dutch

When in need of great shoewear and inexpensive bags,

Invito is an

affordable store with trendy designs; no wonder is one of the most popular shoe

shops among the Dutch.

If you would like to purchase some truly Dutch clothes with a funky edge

do not miss out

Didi and

Steps, two of our favourites. Dresses, blazers,

trousers, skirts… renew your wardrobe without spending a fortune but without

giving up on style.

WE is another Dutch brand with fantastic high street

fashion for men and women and during sales you can get great deals such as buy

3, pay 2.

Are you a cosmetic lover? Then you are on the right shopping street. Two

of our favourite beauty stores:

Sabon and

Lush can be found here.

If you like natural cosmetics, delicious scents and you want to pamper yourself

or get a great gift from someone back home, you will surely find something

interesting there. Ask for the massage bars at Lush, they are addictive and work

miracles after a long day working or sightseeing.

Did you forget to bring a book with you? No problem.

Waterstones,

a fantastic two-floor British bookstore has an extensive selection of books,

DVDs and magazines in English. Books in other languages are also available and

their stuff is friendly and helpful. Treat yourself to the latest best-seller

or a classic novel and chill in one of our great apartments by reading your

newly acquired book. And do not forget to get some candy at

Jamin. It is

one of best candy stores in The Netherlands. If you have a sweet tooth you will

be in heaven there. Ideal for children and adults.

Drop, the Dutch liquorice is as popular as bikes in The Netherlands

and it comes in different flavours: even salty!

Would you rather shop everything you need in one place?

V&D

and the

Bijenkorf (this last one located on Dam Square) are the big

names when it comes to department stores in The Netherlands. Clothes, DVDs,
